Andrew Larsen

Authors’ Booking Service is pleased to announce that author Andrew Larsen is now scheduling visits in the Greater Toronto Area.

Andrew would be delighted to visit to your school or library. His rate is $250 per session, or $450 for a full morning. Andrew has been known to visit with entire school (JK-6) in a single morning. He doesn’t drive but if there’s a way to get to your school or library via public transit he’ll find it!

Andrew’s picture book, The Imaginary Garden, has been recognized both nationally and internationally. CBC recently recommended his chapter book, The Luck of Jude, as a great read.

Here’s what Teacher-Librarian Pina Rocha of Ernest Public School in North York has to say about Andrew’s presentations:
“Andrew Larsen’s presentations are full of contagious positive energy!! He has visited our school three years in a row and all of our JK-Gr.6 students thoroughly enjoyed his visits. He tailored his presentations to the ages/interests of each group and he kept everyone engaged! He even signs autographs!

His inspiring message rings clear: ANYONE can be an author!!”

Presentation Details

Grades JK – 3: (approximately 40 minutes) I believe we’re all storytellers. We’re born that way. We tell stories when we play, when we draw and as we write. In my presentations I encourage students to recognize that they are surrounded by ideas just waiting to be discovered and nurtured into stories. I talk about the process through which ideas grow into stories and through which those stories, in turn, grow into books. I do a little show and tell and a little magic. Then I read. I encourage questions. My aim is to instill the belief we all have important stories to tell.

Grades 4, 5 and 6: (approximately 50 minutes) I talk about keeping a journal as a way to collect ideas. I tell the story of how my journals have played an important role in my life and especially in my life as an author. I share my secret for writing well. I recount the many challenges I faced in the long process of writing my first chapter book, The Luck of Jude. Finally, I read and invite questions.

For me, school and library visits are one of the best parts of being an author. The students I meet are a constant source of inspiration. I aim, in turn, to inspire and amuse.

I will present to:
