Presentation details

Winter/Spring 2012!

Ghost Messages Presentation: Welcome aboard! Join the crew for a 60 minute PPT session that takes students aboard the mighty Great Eastern as it sets sail to lay the transatlantic cable from Ireland to Newfoundland. Travel with Ailish O’Connor as she and Davy, a mysterious boy from the hold, try to discover where her stolen treasure is hidden while avoiding a dangerous sailor who has no problem with throwing her overboard if she gets in the way. Background information on the voyage and actual photographs and illustrations plus an authentic piece of the 1865 transatlantic cable, makes this fun and informative. To add to the excitement, students will win prizes and bookmarks! A great way to engage an audience eager for a super book.

Available with Future Tours:

History and Culture Presentation: Jacqueline combines literacy with history and culture in a highly visual interactive presentation that has teachers and students asking for more. An intriguing over view of her novels has students lining up to sign the books out, while her presentation, with real artefacts ranging from native toys to buffalo teeth and beaver pelts, transports students back to the days of Canada’s Fur Trade and the hearty Metis Voyageurs who were the backbone of the fur trade. The multi-cultural aspects of the presentation impart a simple, but important message- tolerance and understanding of diversity is what makes Canada the best country in the world! Her final words of wisdom: READ TO SUCCEED!

Easy Key Writing Workshops: Students will learn the three steps to writing success and know how to use them to ensure higher marks on any writing assignment, even the Provincial Exams. These workshops move at the speed of light, encouraging students to put pen to paper and write from the heart. Writing exercises range from whimsical to practical with students given licence to let their imaginations soar.
