Authors' Booking Service represents children's book creators but many of our authors have written books that also appeal to adults. Here are the details:
Kari-Lynn’s experiencesas an award-winning author, a professional actor, a drama and literacyscholar and an educator are called upon during these adultpresentations. There are two types of workshops/presentationsthat Kari-Lynn offers: 1) writing for children and moving beyond theslush pile and 2) presenting for large audiences. Both of theseworkshops/presentations are engaging and interactive.
I write for adults as well as for children. My adult works include the novel, The Book of Mary, which "breaks historical
and conventional boundaries in this imaginative fictionalization of the
life of Mary."
All of my books, be they picture books, chapter books or young adult novels, deal with issues that resonate equally with adults and children. Immigration experiences, WWI and WWII history, the Ukainian famine, the Armenian genocide -- these are all issues aired in my books and I love talking about them with adult audiences.
Because of
my varied career background, I can present a number of topics—from the
writing process to the author-editor relationship, how publishing
works, book studies, and so on—or simply do a traditional reading and
Q&A period. I’m happy to tailor my presentation to suit the age of
the group and wishes of the host.
